How to get to Isafjordur?

Isafjordur is much closer than you’d think, and it's not even that expensive to get there!

There are 2-3 flights per day from the domestic airport in Reykjavik that are only 40 minutes in length. The Isafjordur airport is only a 5 minutes drive from town center and a flight shuttle runs back and forth prior and after each flight.  Check out Air Iceland’s website (www.airiceland.is) for schedules and special offers.

You can also rent a car and drive to Isafjordur. The drive from Reykjavik is an unforgettable journey and would ass an extra element to your stay in Iceland.  It´s about 440-500 km depending on which route you take. A new road via Arnkötludalur opened in 2009 that completed the paved pathway around the Westfjords making it much easier for our fellow travelers. The drive will normally take you 5-6 hours if you stay on the paved roads.
